My picks for the best eyeshadows:
I don’t know if it’s because of the dreary, rainy days or the leaves turning splendid shades of bright orange, yellow and red but it’s this time of the year that I like starting to experiment with fun makeup colours. I confess that I love all makeup, eye shadows, lipsticks you name it I’m in! My biggest problem is that I’m fickle, very fickle and I keep changing my makeup before it’s finished…
I just recently discovered Benefit eye shadow. Of course I’m familiar with the company and they have a some really great highlighters and a super (red) lip and cheek tint but for whatever reason I have never really used their eye shadows. The inspiration to try them out came from a magazine (that and wandering around the cosmetics counter while waiting for a friend). I really like the texture, creamy and powdery at the same time. Also, it stays on pretty well all day without that dreaded creasing. As a plus the packaging is really cute. I think that’s always a good thing, as it’s nice to look at in your makeup bag. These were more of my summer colours, easy and light, the peachy one was great for highlighting or all over when I was just looking for a light shimmer. The pewter, blended perfectly with my liner.
MAC, who doesn’t have a ton of these little beauties in their makeup wardrobe? They definitely top the best eyeshadows chart with their fabulous colours. If anyone knows how to present products it’s most certainly them. Every time I walk in to one of their spaces I just get overwhelmed by the amount of colour! I find that their products last a long time which is nice. My favourite, however, are the the pigments. When I discovered those they jumped way up my list. The colour is perfect and I find that I can control how much I layer on. Since they are powders I find the easiest way to apply them is dipping a q-tip into the powder and then just smudging the colour with my finger. Best of all the pigments stay exactly where and how I want them to all day long. I have two favourites, the Blonde Gold and the Melon (love the names). Melon is actually a mix of peach and gold. In the fall, I love a blend of purple and gold, they feel like the perfect hues to match the richness of the season’s trends. (That sparkly blue-green one in the right corner is awesome during the holidays)
As much as I like the other shadows, I think Urban Decay has got to be right on top of my list, it’s definitely one of the best eyeshadows on the market. I’ve been eying their Nude palette but have yet to commit. Who knew so many shades of beige and gray fall into the nude category. It just seems like a lot of shadows and I don’t think I’ll really use all of them. Although I may cave and eat be eating these words shortly. For all the fabulous colours out there in the cosmetics industry, they always seem to have that exact shade that I’m looking for! Although it’s fairly intense that purple couldn’t be beat. The pink is a standby for when I wake up looking tired. It just brightens my whole face. I actually have yet to run across anyone who doesn’t look good in pink. When I want something more intense I just do one swipe of the pewter, one of the bronze and away I go. Super easy.
My personal disclaimer: I never wear old makeup, as soon as the texture changes or it begins to smell funny I’m done with it, I just can’t always bring myself to throw it away as it makes me happy to look at!

I love makeup!!! I experiment more in the fall too… I think that it is because I tend to wear less makeup in the summer for a natural look. Mac, Urban Decay, and Benefit are my all time favorites! Nice posting!!!!
