Pink. It’s a colour some of us love and some of us love to hate. It’s a colour that is somehow always in style with its incarnations span all the way from a pretty pink ballerina shade to a vibrant fuschia. Why this obsession? It is, after all, just a colour like so many others. What it is, in fact, is the colour cinematographers call magic hour. That moment right after the sun dips beneath the horizon and the sky is every shade of pink you can imagine. Since shadows have disappeared, there are no angles, only soft lines. Everything has a glow about it.
This is perhaps why pink is a universally flattering tone. I’m taking a moment to throw out all the technical jargon about pink not being a true colour but rather a combination of red and violet out the window. I say it’s a true colour. It is the incarnation of femininity, romance and universal love. Keep in mind, however, that everyone has to find the shade that works best with their skin tone. This will most likely be a tone which falls in between a pale pink and a peachy colour. It’s a very sophisticated neutral that reflects the natural flush our skin.
While I understand that it can be a girly colour, it doesn’t have to be. A pink dress may be too much for some, so how about adding a pink scarf to a black moto jacket. It’s that ideal mix of edgy versus feminine and depending on how you tie the scarf, it can have a touch of vintage thrown in for good measure. A soft pink on the lips or on the cheeks can also cast a warm glow on your face. When I’m especially tired, I add a pink hued eye shadow to my morning routine. It helps to illuminate my eyes and I look instantly refreshed. So let us take a moment to put on our rose coloured sunnies and see the world as it should be in a lovely glowing light.

Great tips! You’re right pink is a universally flattering colour tone. I like pink but for whatever reason I’ve shied away from wearing it…Pink has always been colour that I liked on other people but not on me. However, over the last couple of years I’ve become more open to wearing it. In fact my wedding dress was blush / pale pink!
