how to relieve stress in 15 minutes

How to relieve stress in 15 minutes.  Lately my life has been one big, giant ball of stress. Many things are coming at me from all sides and quite often I can feel my stress levels rising. At times like these, it’s tough to remind myself to breath and slow down. Of course, we all know the terrible effects that stress can have on our lives. Not only does it make us less productive, but it can also be very debilitating, not to mention that it can wreak havoc on our skin and body. When times get a little tough, there are some simple ways to help yourself relax quickly and efficiently.

Start moving. Endorphins are like all-natural “happy pills” for your body. They are produced when you start moving, so stand up, jump up and down or run in place for a few minutes and in no time you’ll find yourself feeling better. Better yet, take it outside. Go for a 15 minute walk and remember to breathe. The fresh air and change of environment will do wonders for your mental state of mind.

Sit down. Yes it’s the complete opposite of what I just said, but sometimes slowing down for a minute can do the trick. You don’t need to be a master at meditation, so take a minute to close your eyes and just focus on your breath. It’s times like this when I reach for a face mask like Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask. The cooling sensation on my skin, combined with the aromatherapy-like scent, helps me relax. As a bonus, my skin is left feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. I also like have a cup of tea to help me slow down.

Visit your local makeup counter. Yes you read that right. I recently needed a new foundation, so I took myself to my local department store and sat down at the Armani counter. The sales girl spent some time asking about my skin and analyzing my complexion and then proceeded to apply the foundation. After a few minutes, I forgot about all the stresses in my life. Essentially, she unknowingly forced me to redirect my attention. Please keep in mind that this technique can be adapted to suit individual interests. The idea is to take a few minutes to focus on yourself and allow someone else to pamper you.

Start writing. The simple act of putting pen to paper or fingers to keys can be extremely therapeutic. It forces you to streamline your thoughts and focus your energy on what you want to say.

While some stress can be beneficial because it forces us to be more productive and think outside the box, we can’t let it become overwhelming. So the next time that you feel things spinning out of control, take a moment to try out these techniques and let yourself approach life in a new light.

  1. The best way to relieve stress? Crank some tunes and dance it out. My poor neighbours must think I am nuts, but I love it.

  5. Girl, I’m all about that 15 min stress relief. If a product say anything along the lines of “calming” or “deep sleep” on the box, I’m all over it. One thing that’s awesome about NYC is the overabundance of nail salons (which usually does chair massages) that stay open pretty late. There’s a few times I’ve stopped by to get a quick chair massage on my walk home. Whenever I’m stressed, my shoulder is usually the first muscle group to feel it.
