A Notebook And Paper in Portland

notebook

Notebook. When we stumbled on Oblation Papers, a little part of me knew immediately that I would love this shop forever. Paper, paper and more paper fill this space. In addition, there are some wonderful journals and some old typewriters and even a place where you can sit and quietly create.  There’s a gorgeous chandelier, old writing tables and inspiration around every corner. It might not be a coffee shop but I could definitely see myself coming here if I need a quiet space to write my next great novel.

notebook

I know I’ve said it before but I always go a little crazy in these stores. For my sweet 16 I remember shocking my parents when I asked for a fountain pen. That should have tipped us all off that I’d be in love with beautiful notebooks and all sorts of pens for the rest of my life. Actually, if truth be told, my hubby went a little crazy in here too.

notebook

I always carry around a notebook with me because I never know when I might come up with a great idea that I want to write down.  I’ve been looking everywhere for that perfect blogging notebook and although I haven’t quite found what I’m looking for, some of these came pretty close.

notebook

It doesn’t matter if I’m in a paper store or a fabric store, I get the same emotional reaction. All the colours, prints and textures inspire me to create. It is as if I am being handed all the tools that I need to make something beautiful happen. Whether it be re-upholstering a vintage chair, sewing a garment or putting pen to paper I’m open to all the possibilities!

Do you have a favourite notebook you love to write in? I would love to know.
