Art of letter writing. A few weeks ago I was visiting a great blog, Winter Owls and I was really excited to find a post about Ziggy Shortcrust. Ziggy decided to single-handedly revive the lost art of letter writing by sending her letters flying all over the world.
Well this immediately peaked my interest and off I went to visit her blog. There I discovered that Ziggy, who travels in an elderly campervan, lives in a world where she speaks with fairies and drinks tea from a cup made of dragon scales. With all this she still manages to take the time and personally illustrate each and every one of her letters before they take flight. I love that there are people like her in our world!
So as you can imagine I was absolutely thrilled when I found my letter in the mailbox. It definitely brightened a very dreary day. The hand painted envelope is adorned with a lovely yellow bird and my fairy is wearing a fabulous yellow dress! What could be better than that?!
I don’t have Ziggy’s wonderful drawing skills but I can certainly write her a lovely letter. I have my fancy trusty pen but now I’m trying to decide which paper is special enough. Do I go with something very classic and elegant?
Maybe I should use this elaborate stationary?
Or maybe these Kodachrome postcards that feature images which were processed on the last day the legendary film was developed.
I’m still deciding on the stationary but the one thing I’m sure of is that I will definitely tell her the story of my wedding ring which has both a faerie and a dragon!
We all love receiving letters. Do you think the art of letter writing is lost?

nothing really beats old-school letters. there’s a certain novelty to it, and honest-to-goodness effort involved.

i was just thinking yesterday about how I haven’t written a love letter to The Husband lately – those written words used to be so important to us – now we survive on texts and emails. ugh! I think that before I take the time to blog again (what precious little I have, I will write a real letter first).
I need to get some fun postcards and stationary… these are gorgeous. Have a fabulous week!
