Best beauty boutique. A few days ago a good friend, Kelly S., who works at Blanche Macdonald Centre, invited me to come by their store/training-education centre Curlique Beauty boutique. I was super excited because, well really they have lots of make up, skin and hair care products and so who wouldn’t want to go.
Upon entering I was awed by this incredible space that is filled with beauty products. I was left at the ‘mercy’ of Jaylene M., who walked me through the store explaining all the products they carry. I quickly came to realize that she is an amazing and wickedly funny individual, period. It was obvious that she is proud of Curlique and has a deep appreciation for the space. No matter what I asked she took me seriously and knew every single product inside out.
Here’s where I need to come to an abrupt stop because it needs to be noted that Curlique is an extremely fascinating place and so much more than just a store. This is a place of higher learning even if you are entering as a consumer. Natural light floods the open, airy and pristine space. Of course this is a store but they are there to educate you about all the amazing beauty products they carry, some of which have limited or no availability elsewhere in Vancouver. Each company has a story to tell and the staff takes this seriously.
All the staff are graduates of the school and therefore industry professionals. The one thing Jaylene said that struck me the most was that they are there to listen. They want to hear what the public, the students and the companies have to say. They acknowledge the fact that everyone has a voice and that we can learn from each other. I guess what it comes down to is that they make it a point to be aware of their community and value the richness it brings to their school. I don’t know about all of you but sometimes I get tired of just being a nameless face in a large department store. Here, everyone is really encouraged to build relationships with each other.
The above picture can’t go without an explanation. This is the genius work of Timothy Hung a mind blowing makeup artist and graduate of Blanche Macdonald. I find this picture so incredibly inspiring!
Just had to include these stunning pieces. I had never really heard about them before but what a magical idea. Personally I would love to wear them every single day……
After spending about two and half hours ‘hanging out’, I was given a sample of Embryollise cream that I just can’t wait to try out and report back on! In addition to selling product they also do manicures, makeovers and you can even get your hair done. I’m definitely going to squeeze in a mani and makeover immediately after the holidays and just in time for New Years.
This is definitely my new favourite place to go for all my beauty needs and arguably the best beauty boutique in Vancouver!

So much fun! I could spend hours upon hours exploring in a space like that. You should book an appt. with Mr. Hung for your NYE makeup… that would be amazing!
Love the store, you are in wonderland.

You’re a fellow Vancouverite too!? I live like a block away from Curlique, and always walk by. That face lace looks tres cool! Is it open to public as well?
I am! I think we probably live right next to each other in that case. It is open to the public and on Friday’s and Saturdays you can get mani’s and makeovers!!!!

Where is this store? It looks amazing! It’s wonderful you got a little tour + some samples from there. 🙂 Merry Christmas xo
It’s in Vancouver and I’m going back again later this week! The sample Embryollisse cream I got is amazing!
All that beauty stuff – so crazily fab.
That face lace stuff looks neat, maybe not everyday for me but it would be so nice for a masquerade party. You wouldn’t need to fuss around with those pesky ribbons on masquerade masks.
I wish you a very merry christmas sweetie and a happy new year 🙂
Much love, Karen.
ps: following you now, if you ever have the time to visit me back, that would be the best xmas present from you 🙂

Me too! I’m definitely going to try it!
Congrats on the Links à la Mode selection Caroline!
The store looks like it’d be a great place to spend an hour…or three…
Perhaps it would even convince me to change my (very) minimalist approach to my makeup?
