BEST GIFTS FOR THE FITNESS LOVER
While some consider it a chore, many of us actually love working out. I know that while I’m not the biggest gym goer, missing a ballet class causes me some distress. I love pushing my body, seeing what it can do and every time I have a good class it’s a small celebration. It was the same when I briefly did kickboxing. It was a ridiculous amount of fun and part of the fun was getting the gear. New boxing gloves? Yes please! Just try to drag me out of a dance store, I’m like a 5 year old.
The thing about working out is that depending on your activity of choice, it costs a certain amount of money. From paying for trainers or lessons or gym memberships it can add up and there isn’t always enough money left over for some of the fun stuff.
PORTABLE FITNESS
There’s one in every family. The person who not only packs their heels but also a few resistance bands and a pair of sneakers when they travel. That same person will know where the local gym is and will get to know the running routes before the plane lands.
Sure these gifts are great for the healthy traveler but they work just as well for someone who lives in a small space and doesn’t have the room for a home gym. There’s a lot you can do with a jump rope and some resistance bands.
GEAR
There’s a really good reason why athleisure is such a thing. Half the time when I reach for my workout clothes, I don’t just want to wear them to the gym. The tops are cute and flattering, the bottoms are super comfortable and they don’t only belong in a studio, many of them look just as great when you are hanging out having a casual day.

ACCESSORIES
These are the things that any avid fitness buff needs, but doesn’t necessarily spend a lot of money on. I can’t even tell you how many pairs of running socks I’ve gone through and while they may not be a glamorous gift, you can be sure that I will use them a lot. If you want to choose a gift with more flair, how about a great gym bag. This is a present that she’ll get excited about every time she uses it and it might inspire a workout or two.
FITNESS GADGETS
I admit that fitness gadgets make me a little bit giddy and I certainly can’t be the only one. Just the thought of a new fitness tracker makes me want to get up a move and don’t even get me started on a new pair of headphones. I suddenly have to choose a whole new playlist. I was recently at a networking event where everyone was dressed for business but they were standing around comparing their fitness trackers. Have you seen them lately? Gone are the days when you had to wear ugly plastic bracelets. Now they are streamlined and pretty and you even have your choice of jewelry.
Before you go diving in (trust me, it’s tempting) take a moment to think about what sport the lucky recipient of your gift participates in. That should help you decide what they might need. If all else fails then you can never go wrong with a great hoodie!
