Yaletown. Well finally exciting things are starting to happen in my neighbourhood. It’s always been a place with a great reputation but lately it’s been in name only. All that changed this weekend when the Candy Town festival came to Yaletown. This was the first time they’ve held it and I really hope it returns year after year!
Everything was brought to the street. All the stores put out tents and tons of food vendors appeared. Plenty of cotton candy, popcorn and lots of other fresh baked goodies! While I was waiting for my husband to go get some mini donuts, a gorgeous horse drawn carriage came by. This would have been the perfect photo op but my poor dog freaked out and I couldn’t take the picture, so you’ll all have practice telepathy and see into my brain!
Along with a skating rink there were all sorts of fun characters walking around and posing for family pictures. It was perfect, this was definitely a family friendly event.
There was a marching band and plenty of people taking pictures! I couldn’t resist, I love this guy’s blazer! Too bad he disappeared before I could ask him if he’s a blogger.
You can’t get better than good old maple syrup! Oh wait of course you can when it’s warm maple syrup taffy. For those not familiar with this, it’s when you pour the syrup over fresh snow, it becomes a sticky, yummy mass of goodness.
All in all a great day but the best part was that I finally go to wear my brand new winter coat from Soia & Kyo. It’s toasty warm and the front panel can be detached, making it super versatile. Love it!
