Christmas Holiday Tag

mini christmas tree

Christmas. I haven’t done a blog tag in a very long time but this one from Beauty Expression by Luchessa just made me smile. So here goes:
1. Do you start your Christmas shopping on Black Friday or wait until the last-minute?
I start shopping fairly early but there are always some last minute gifts which need to be purchased. Black Friday only became a big deal in Canada recently, so I’ve never been.

2. If you could be in any Christmas movie what would it be?
8 Femmes (8 Women). I just discovered this movie recently, but as a French dark comedy…. I love it!

3. Which do you like better: Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
Probably Christmas Eve, it was always a bigger deal at my house growing up.

4. When does your family put up your Christmas tree and who decorates it?
As a kid we used to put up the tree a few days before Christmas and it was always the kids doing a lot of the work. Now I usually do it.

5. White lights or colored lights?
White all the way. I’m one of those people who like a very organized tree.

6. Are you guilty of peeking at your presents or do you like the surprise?
While I don’t like surprises, I have never peeked at a gift.

7. Would you rather live in a gingerbread house or in Santa’s Workshop?
I think Santa’s Workshop sounds more fun, but it might get cold up at the North Pole.

8. Tell us your Christmas Eve traditions!
Usually my husband and I go shopping for all sorts of fun and interesting foods. Seriously, our table has anything from sushi to donuts and everything in between and then we spend the evening together and I watch The Nutcracker.

9. If you could be under the mistletoe with anyone who would it be?
My husband

10. What tops your tree?
This year I don’t have anything, but for the past few years it has been a ballerina angel

11. Can you name the 12 days of Christmas?
Noooo. Growing up our Christmases were never traditional.

12. Have you ever gone Christmas caroling?
I’ve only seen it in the movies. I think it’s great that people actually go!

13. Do you countdown to Christmas? If so, how many days are left?
I don’t and it usually sneaks up on me. I do, however, know that today is Christmas Eve.

14. What are some foods and treats you can count on having every holiday season?
Sushi for the past few years (that’s my favourite) and also caviar. My husband always love pierogie’s with mushrooms and cabbage croquettes. He always had a more traditional holiday, so I count on him. This year, I’m happy to add that we’ve added Champagne to the mix. This is one tradition we’ll definitely keep.

15. How has Christmas kept its magic for you as you’ve grown older?
Since we celebrated both Chanukah and Christmas at my house, I don’t remember Christmas as being magic but rather a lovely time of year to spend with family and friends. If I had to weave a little bit of magic into the air, it would definitely be the spectacular lights.

I wish all of you a wonderful Christmas and Holiday season and all the very best in the New Year!
