HOW TO DECORATE YOUR HOME OFFICE DIY
Several posts ago I brought up inspiration and the items that I look to whenever I’m a little stuck. In this spirit I believe that a nice workspace is really important. Recently I was browsing around a friend’s shop, Da Vinci’s Home, and I found and amazing coffee table book called Creativity at Work. Just looking through it made me yearn for a beautiful, artistic space to work in.
If you are like me living in a small space, then your living room might have to do double duty. In my case my ‘office’ consists of a coffee table. It is an old piece from a big box store that, frankly, I’m surprised is still holding on. This week with the skies turning to a bright blue, a spring warmth to the air and pink magnolia trees in bloom I decided enough was enough.
Heading over to the paint store I knew exactly what I was looking for. A pale blue-gray base and some silver metallic paint would be perfect for my vision. As with many well laid plans, however, you sometimes need to be flexible. Unfortunately there wasn’t any silver paint so I turned to champagne. Much of my furniture currently has silver accents but I decided that since mixing metals is accepted in fashion, why not in interior design?
Sunlight floods my living room for most of the day and well into the evening and after experiencing the warm champagne colour I’m happy I chose it. I think that silver, as beautiful as it is, probably would have been too bright. Also, who doesn’t love champagne, so the way I see it, it’s a win all around.
Now when I enter my ‘office’ in the morning seeing my ‘new’ space puts a smile on my face and I feel inspired to start my day.
How to decorate your home office? What would you do?

Exactly! A lot of Ikea furniture can easily be painted. I’ve altered this table 3 times already. I would love to see what you come up with!
Caroline you made it look so beautiful. I have no talent in such things. Mess is just my thing….
