How to feel beautiful on the inside and outside. Normally when I see a title like this I might roll my eyes and keep scrolling but today I’m asking you to please bear with me. While I’m a little bit on the fence with how this self-care movement is shaping up I do firmly believe that it’s our right to feel good about ourselves both on the inside and out.
The way I see it, is that this is a two-part endeavour.
HOW TO FEEL BEAUTIFUL ON THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE
INSIDE
None of these should surprise you but the way I see it is, if you are constantly reminded to make small changes every day then, once you do, they will add up and before you know it, you will be feeling a lot better about yourself.
Move. No this doesn’t mean spending hours upon hours at the gym, this just means you need to stay active. Schedule in regular walks, see a trainer, join a class whatever it is you need to do, just do it. Make moving a priority. Seriously, unless you have your health nothing else really matters. Of course if you can lift weights and do cardio you should but for now just make it your mission to keep moving.

Get Outside. I find that all too often we get up in the morning, get into our cars, spend the day at work, attend evening activities/run errands and then find ourselves at home once more. In all that time you’ve barely been outside. No wonder so many of us have serious Vitamin D depletion. Make the effort to step outside a few times a day. Have your morning coffee outside, take a walk or sit down and enjoy some you time. Whatever you decide is fine, just don’t completely avoid the sun.
Balance Your Meals. Again, I’m not telling you that you always need to eat clean. For most of us, that’s just not a realistic plan. What you can do however, is try to be as balanced as possible with what you eat. Do I really need to tell you to increase your consumption of greens? Do I really need to tell you to stick with lean proteins and to keep processed foods to a minimum? What I will stress is to stay away from fad diets. They don’t work long term and they’ll only make you crazy.
Get Enough Sleep. To put it simply, our bodies stop functioning optimally when we aren’t getting enough sleep. Of course, there are days when you won’t sleep well but again, this is about getting into good long term habits.
OUTSIDE
Now that you are working on your insides, it’s time to think about how you are presenting yourself to the world.
Learn To Appear More Confident. Beauty isn’t really about having the perfect features but more about how confident you appear to others.
- Make an effort to soften your expression when you are out. The goal is to look relaxed and approachable.
- Slouching automatically makes you look shy and meek. Keep your head up, shoulders back and don’t forget about your posture.
- Focus on smiling and looking people in the eye when talking to them.
Reinvent Your Style. I believe that we spend way too much time stuck in style ruts. You know when you buy a new outfit and all of your friends compliment you on it? That is a feeling you want all the time and by never taking chances or changing anything, pretty soon your style will succeed in making you look older and frumpy.
- Make sure that the colours you are wearing are flattering and will compliment your complexion.
- Pay your hair stylist a visit and get get an update. You don’t need to do do any dramatic changes because even small one will make a world of difference.
- Show off your best assets and remember that hiding beneath baggy clothing isn’t doing you any favours. While you are at it, make friends with a tailor, they will do wonders with clothing that doesn’t quite fit.
