Watches. Not only are they a stylish piece of jewelry, but they are also a functional accessory as well. I’ve been building my collection for some time now and while I’m still working on it, I think it’s a pretty decent grouping. Just like with bags or shoes, I believe that every woman should own more than one watch. As with any of your accessories, the watch you chooses says a lot about who you are on any given day. When it comes to watches, I love classic styles best. Give me a vintage watch anytime. Although I definitely gravitate to a more masculine style, with maybe just a little sparkle thrown in!
The beauty of watches is that there are no rules, or at the very least, I believe they are meant to be broken. You can choose ones with a leather strap or a metal strap or even one that is attached to a band of pearls. I love old pocket watches. They are a reminder of days when we weren’t in such a hurry, of days we can only read about in books. Even the new models seem to carry some sort of a story. Pocket watches can be worn in the classic way, or how about attaching one to your purse’s handle or perhaps even try it on as a necklace. Whichever way you choose, it is sure to be showstopper.
Of course while I wouldn’t wear a sports watch with a ballgown, I might choose a chunky metal one. As I rule, I like to wear one item that is unexpected.
I feel that every woman should own a gold watch. It can be worn loosely to double as a bracelet, even when attending the most elegant affairs.
I always have an everyday watch. Usually it is oversized and a statement piece. It is sturdy and made of a durable material which ensures that it will not get scratched or banged up when I am out and about.
My vintage watches I generally keep for special occasions, although every now and then they do make an appearance for the everyday. Remember, however, if you own vintage watches, keep them in a working condition. They need to be treated with the respect they deserve.
Another great way to wear a watch is to pair it with some bracelets. They can be complementary in colour, but this could also be the perfect opportunity to mix metals for a chic and glamorous look!
Do you love wearing watches?

Good tips, Caroline. I love the suggestions for creative ways to wear a pocket watch. I would not have thought to attach one to a handbag or to wear on a chain as a necklace. I hope you have a great weekend.

I looove watches. They’re practically the only jewelry I’m allowed to wear as a man. I have a work-watch, casual-watch, elegant-watch, etc. I even have a cool vintage pocket-watch.
Great post. I hope more people, including women, wear watches. I noticed young people not wearing them and I asked why. They said they didn’t need one since their cell-phone tells the time. That’s ridiculous.
I love watches. As always a great post 😉
