How to wear scarves. I think we can all pretty much agree on the fact that I am an accessories girl. Now that fall has finally arrived, with a vengeance, scarf season is in full force. The way I see it, is that for the next five to six months I’ll pretty much be wearing the same dark coat day after day, so what better way to change it up than to wear a fantastic scarf! I need to put a small disclaimer in here. I used to work for Dessa, an accessories boutique in Toronto, where I had huge deals so naturally I managed to accumulate lots of great pieces.
For me a scarf qualifies as a beautiful piece of fabric or artwork that I get to wrap around my neck. It’s that little piece of luxury I can wear every day. I especially like this one with its golden thread.
These are a little bit of a cheat because I wear them in my hair in the summer. In the fall, however, I like to tie them on to my bags just to add that pop of colour when the weather gets bleak.
This is an incredibly cozy pashmina in a rich, graduated orange. I save it for the coldest darkest days when I’m really craving sunshine.
An acquisition from my retail days, this one is a real gem that I am excited to share. It is a soft gray blue with delicate flowers that are hand embroidered. I save this one for special occasions or for those days when I need to feel extra fabulous.
More embroidery. I don’t remember where this one came from but it makes me happy.
Everyone needs a great animal print! Actually I have a good friend who buys me a new scarf every year for my birthday (hint, hint it’s coming up….) and I always love seeing what she’ll come up with!
Alpaca fur is one of my new favourite materials for cold weather. I just learned that it is hypoallergenic and naturally water repellent which makes it perfect for Vancouver’s rainy winters.
Couldn’t leave these two out and they lead me to this next bit. I stumbled upon a video (from Wendy’s Look Book), How to Tie a Scarf 25 ways in 4.5 minutes and it’s brilliant. Some of you are probably familiar with it, those of you who aren’t it’s a definite watch!

The yellow scarf is probably my favourite. What is it about the colour yellow that instantly makes me want to smile? 🙂 Very unique post 🙂 LOVE it.

Yellow is the colour of the sun and who doesn’t love that! It makes me smile too.
Oh sister, this is 100% a family affliction. If I buy one more scarf, there’s a good chance that divorce is on the horizon.
Now that I posted this…I might be in the same boat!

Me too!
I have the same animal print scarf! 🙂 I lovvvve scarves! I’ve worked in retail for many years and scarves were pretty much something I had to be “in the know” about. From tying them to displaying them on mannequins.
You have some pretty scarves! I am here in California and I am ready to break out my scarves. Great video as well 🙂

Thanks! Yeah I really like that video.
What beautiful scarves! I have a few similar ones. Looking forward to seeing the different ways you wear them. I agree, if you’re wearing the same coat all season, you need to accessorize differently! Y xo
My thoughts exactly… maybe you should talk to my husband…..
haha both our husbands may need to be talked to… 🙂
Having lived most of my life in a tropical island, scarves were never a big thing. However I only realised just how useful they are in a temperate climate! I wish I could have the space to start a collection of them; alas, they aren’t much use back home. ^^;
As much as I love being in a temperate climate, I think I could handle a tropical island right about now!
beautiful scarves! Im a big fan of scarves, they make any outfit 🙂

I like that orange scarf a lot! So now I also want to get tons of pretty scarves, they’re EVERYTHING here in the winter (and maybe I should get enormous rocks to put in my pockets so the wind doesn’t blow me all the way to the West Coast… ;))
Ha! Don’t worry, when our wind storms start up in a couple of weeks the wind will send you right back. Go buy scarves, they are so much fun!
Thank you dear :)) Nice post ! Love the animal print scarf, so beautiful <3
