Life is too short for bad coffee. Sometimes there’s nothing better than sneaking off to meet a friend for coffee on a random weekday afternoon.Today I spent several hours at a coffee shop/restaurant I recently discovered with a blogger friend of mine. Medina Cafe is wonderful. Midday on a Tuesday and it was packed, as in they wouldn’t seat me until all parties arrived.
On weekends there is a line up around the corner to get in. I now know why and I would most definitely line up as well. Most cities have gems like this. They are a well kept secret usually hidden on a side street somewhere. Locals know about them and visitors feel lucky when they find them.
I’m not usually a fan of sweet or flavoured coffee but today. Generally I prefer black with some milk. This time, however, couldn’t resist and ordered a half-sweet lavender latte….the verdict….Delicious! It wasn’t sweet and just had that tiny hint of lavender, perfect for a spring afternoon. The waffles melt in your mouth and it was all we could do not to dig in to the egg dish served to a table next to us.
Being that my friend is a travel blogger, you can find her blog MzZoomer here. It got me thinking, how much fun would it be to travel the cities of the world, discovering all of their ‘secret’ cafes!
As the sign says, “Life is too short for bad coffee”, and I couldn’t agree more!

Lavendar latte? I’ve never tried one before…I’m intrigued! Those waffles look delicious too!! We’ve had a couple of waffle places open up here recently…what can I say wpg is often slow to catch on!lol
Yummy photos, yummy food, yummy coffee and great conversation. Thanks C. Enjoyable day and great find, for sure! Thanks for your support as always.
I’m so jealous! One of my favorite cafes that went out of business a few years ago, they had a lavender latte as well. It was perfect. Like you, I am not a fan of sweet flavored drinks (my “standard” is an 8 oz. latte w/3 shots of espresso) – but the lavender latte wasn’t sweet at all. It had a strange, aromatic flavor but all the “oomph” of a good espresso beverage. Gosh, I miss that latte!!!
This coffee shop looks so nice and the waffles delicious…
Its so cool to find a blogger in your own area that finds places like this. Makes my life so much easier. Thanks very much, think I’ll check it out as soon as I get the chance 😉

Mmmmmmmm.
Oh how I miss living closer to a large city sometime!! Asking for a Lavender Latte where I live would would probably get you directions to the local mental ward!
Yummy. I can only imagine it was delicious. I added lavender to my vanilla earl grey tea (to which I add far too much cream) and it was marvelous!

Yum, those waffles look amazing. Come to Bristol and try some of our funky little cafes on Gloucester Road. Or try the classic New Zealand flat white – I recommend Wellington for the best cafes, but there are a few good ones all over the country.
I would love to try them!!!!

Mmm, it all looks so tasty! You’re brave for trying the lavender latte. . . I always have trouble with flower-flavored things for some reason; doesn’t feel natural, I guess 😉 The waffles remind me exactly of Belgian waffles, and I bet they smelled divine!
Omg so jealous it looks beautiful. Cute blog following! Would you follow me?!? Thanks!!
