Secrets to beautiful skin. Lately my focus has been on how to achieve a beautiful complexion. I’m not interested getting age spots, skin discolorations or wrinkles. Looking worn and tired is not an option. I never talk about my age, because I believe that you should always keep them guessing and most of all, you should always try to look your best. So the question is, how do you keep them guessing?
SECRETS TO BEAUTIFUL SKIN
Wear sunscreen. This is your best defense against future skin damage. SPF needs to be applied on a daily basis, even on cloudy days because the sun’s harmful rays are still present. No matter what age you are, protecting your skin should be a priority because no one wants a dull uneven complexion.
Eat healthy. You know that old saying, “you are what you eat,” well it holds true when it comes to your skin. A diet rich in antioxidants will surely help to give you a glowing complexion. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water!
Be healthy. Getting enough sleep and regular exercise also goes a long way to having great skin. While exercise increases circulation and brings great nutrients to your skin, having a good night’s rest allows your skin to regenerate.
Keep a simple skin care routine. With so many creams and cleansers on the market it can be really easy to want to try everything, but keep in mind that different ingredients can cancel each other out. When you find products that work for you stick with them for a while to get the best results. I’m always tempted to change up my routine and I always need to do my best to remember that it takes time for products to work. Creams which contain Retinol are great for fighting the signs of ageing. So give them a chance.
Invest for the long term. I keep promising myself that I’ll start going for regular facials, but either I’m too busy or I don’t have the money or I don’t trust a new cosmetician to touch my face. Receiving the Microderm 360 kit from Kelley West was a huge coup. If I’m going to be honest, I am starting to see the first signs of ageing. While I can’t afford expensive lasers and other similar treatments, I can now easily get the same results at home and frankly, I’m over the moon. My skin has never felt softer and never looked better!
Of course, not everyone was born with perfect skin but maintaining a healthy and (relatively) stress free lifestyle, coupled with a simple and consistent skin care routine, will go a long way to having glowing and youthful looking skin.
What are some of your skin care secrets?

One of my skincare secrets would have to be that I always moisturize at night. And whenever I put on face makeup, i will put on moisturizer as well.
Very interesting post. xx

Helpful post! I am planning to invest in more skincare and beauty products this year. Also thinking about going on a safe-for-the-skin diet, but I don’t know where to start though! But really lovely post, thanks for sharing! <3

I think eating well goes a long, long way. My mom started working on her diet and drinking lots of fruit and veggie smoothies, and I swear it stopped the signs of aging in their tracks. I also like to keep my face well moisturized and work in multiple lighter layers rather than just one heavy cream. I have combination skin so it helps me build up the moisture in places I need it (that will probably start to age first, like under the eyes) and keep things minimal on the areas that don’t.
I love this, thank you! I agree that everything related to our bodies starts with our diet, if it’s not regulated then nothing else works as it should!

I’ve heard that the best way to prevent wrinkles is to prevent sun damage. So sunblock is definitely in my must wear list.

It is! The unfortunate part is that there are those wrinkles that happen regardless. I for one, have also done damage by not using it when I was younger. I’m definitely paying for it now.

Love your article, especially that famous line: ‘you are what you eat’! It’s absolutely true! 🙂
Thanks and I agree!
