Shopping for vintage hats. I dragged my hubby out on a beautiful, sunny Sunday to go to the Kerrisdale Antiques Fair. Hey it only happens twice a year so it’s not like we can go every day……although come to think of it, I’d be okay with that….. My love of vintage comes from my childhood. I have many fond memories of afternoons spent wandering around garage sales with my mom. We would take road trips to the small towns north of Toronto specifically to discover antique shops.
The fair today did not disappoint, there were so many wonderful things to see. Of course my mild obsession with vintage hats got the better of me. Who am I kidding, I went with the intention of finding a new hat that I desperately need.
I think the reason I like hats so much is because they make a statement. Walking down the street you don’t see many people wearing hats on a daily basis, except of course for baseball caps which don’t count. When I put on a hat, I feel like I can become a different person. I believe that it takes confidence to wear a ‘chapeau’ and when I’m wearing one, I feel like I walk with my head held a little higher and a small skip to my step. They fill me with a renewed energy. There is a hat for every season and it is never an afterthought, it always comes with a purpose and can finish off any look beautifully.
I’ve been dying for a pillbox hat with a veil and was absolutely thrilled when I found this gem. I just couldn’t resist. I swear it fell off the rack and right onto my head!

I agree, I love hats as well and they’re a perfect way to elevate a humdrum outfit becuase they make such a statement. Part of the reason why I love Kate Middleton. The black hat is gorgeous, what a find. I’ve been looking for one with a veil for so long. Something about them makes me feel like a character from film noir. Gorgeous!

I agree on you on that note and I admit I also love collecting different kinds of hats. My favorite right now is the hats with spikes design from an online shop. It’s a it unique on my end since I don’t usually see people around me wearing that kind of accessory.

Oh my gosh, all these hats… I love the first and fourth one.
And I agree, baseball hats are lame and don’t count. I find them to be rather hideous.
