Summer skincare guide. I love the hot, hot summer months. You know those days when it’s hard to breathe and you can almost see the air standing in place. Summers in Vancouver and Warsaw Poland, weren’t nearly as hot and humid so my skincare routine was a lot different. In Ontario, there are days where, whatever I put on my face almost instantly melts off.
Honestly, I don’t like wearing a lot of makeup in the summer and now that we all have to wear masks much of the time, it seems pointless to wear a lot of it. Instead, I like to focus on my skincare with the hopes that if my skin is glowing, I won’t need to cover anything up.
SUMMER SKINCARE GUIDE
MORNING. Remember to gently clean your face before putting on products.
Toner. A light toner is perfect for priming your face before you apply products. It will also help close pores, reducing the absorption of environmental impurities.
Serum. I think serums are my most favourite part of my morning routine. Since they are lighter than a moisturizer they can penetrate deeper into your skin and boost your moisturizer’s efficiency.
Moisturizer/Face Oil. Recently I’ve come across a lot of articles saying that moisturizing isn’t necessary and that you can get away with just a serum. Here’s the thing, a moisturizer will actually help keep your skin looking younger, it can help soothe and balance skin conditions as well as protect your skin from a loss of moisture. Sunscreen. Whatever else you do or don’t do, sunscreen is a 100% must. Every. Single. Day. I find that, especially in the summer, a lot of sunscreens feel too heavy on my face. It has taken some time to find ones that work, so don’t give up they do exist. Read HOW MUCH SPF YOU ACTUALLY NEED
