Vancouver Christmas Market. The sites, the sounds the smells! Christmas has come to Vancouver in the shape of a real German Christmas Market. This tradition began about two years ago (this is year three) and re-creates the traditional markets found in Europe. I admit it, I am a sucker for this, I’ve been looking forward to it for months, it’s truly a magical place.
Each year as the Vancouver Christmas Market gains in popularity, they’ve been bringing in more attractions and vendors, so far so good. This carousel is absolutely gorgeous, I was really happy that I managed to snap a picture in a rare moment when it wasn’t full of kids.
Of course we have to add just a little bit of Canadiana because no event is really complete without a barbecue! If it’s fresh fish caught earlier in the day, I’m not sure I can think of anything tastier.
So much sparkle, so many amazing things that it’s hard to know where to even start.
The organizers have made a real effort to bring in authentic items. This booth is filled with amazing ornaments and earthenware straight from Poland.
The German Nutcracker booth! These wooden toys bring back so many memories for me.
Upon entering the Vancouver Christmas Market you are hit by the electricity. Excitement is in the air, bright colours, textures and Christmas music fill the senses. Excited kids are running around, parents are enjoying warm mugs of mulled wine. Everyone is in a festive mood as they wait in line to sample the delicacies.
We bought some beautiful ornaments since I’ve decided that this year my little tree will be exotic and filled with birds of all kinds!
My ticket came with a season’s pass and since the Market is open everyday until Christmas Eve I’m definitely coming back to visit with this guy!
What do you think of The Vancouver Christmas Market, would you attend?

Go! It’s way better this year and you automatically get a season’s pass…just make sure to bring cash for the entry ’cause half the time their cash machine is out of order.
I’m going to share this with my brides… looks like there could be some fine finds for decorating!
There are! They have a whole kiosk full of beautiful lace and lots of the ornaments are so delicate and ethereal looking, perfect for a winter wedding.

I love them too! Trust me normally my city isn’t all that fun…..
This christmas market looks so fun! What a great idea it was to bring this custom over.
Here in Austria we have so many Christmas markets, that I m actually a bit bored by them. The problem is that most of them have the same uncreative and uninspiring stuff …

Yeah I can understand that but it’s such a novelty here that I will take it all!
Ah, what a pity, that at us isn’t present anything similar) I with pleasure would buy up a set of Christmas trifles. fine post. reminds that soon Christmas!
Great post and really gets me in the festive mood. I haven’t been to a market yet this season, but looking forward to the trip once I get back to Berlin. Mulled wine, hhhmmmm Yum!

I totally agree! Unfortunately with temps hovering around 6 degrees Celsius I don’t think we’ll get much of that in the city…..
That’s pretty inspirational – yes our Christmas markets look like that here in Europe…I wouldn’t have guessed that this is in Vancouver…
