Vintage shopping. After a very long drive with a major detour, we finally made it down to Portland on Saturday. Without wasting a second, we went out on the town ready to discover everything the city has to offer. Actually we already had a pretty good idea of what we wanted to see because the Hotel Monaco Portland we are staying at is amazing. Prior to our departure, they sent me an email asking if there was anything in particular they could do to make my stay more enjoyable. When I asked about local shops and fun places to eat with dog-friendly patios, I promptly received an email with a list of local designer shops and restaurants all over town!
As we began our adventure we were stopped short by the Pride parade. That’s okay by us, detours are always welcome as you never know what fun things you’ll discover. This is when we stumbled into BillyGoat Vintage, one of the many fabulous vintage stores in town. I immediately gravitated to the wall of hats and started trying them all on. Luckily the girl working behind the counter was awesome and super patient and let me play for a while.
Of course I fell in love with one hat in particular and I am now the proud owner of this pink hat from the 1940. I can’t wait to wear it somewhere….Anywhere!
Whenever I’m in a vintage shop another item I usually gravitate towards are men’s ties. There’s a funny reason for this. When I was in grade 3 there was this girl, I think she was a friend’s sister, who was waaaayyyyy older, like in grade 8. She was so cool. You know that girl whose style is ahead of the curve, that girl you want to be? Anyway, she had a skirt that was made up of ties. I’ll never forget it and not that I really want one now, but somewhere deep down I still think that maybe I could just make myself a similar skirt.
Although I didn’t buy the shoes I certainly loved looking at them.
Stay tuned for a lot more fabulous finds, coming soon!
