Writing inspiration. Often there are times, like today, when I sit down in front of my computer with the intention to write. I wind up starring at a blank screen for hours and nothing….. It’s moments like this that force me to turn inwards and look through my belongings, my surroundings to pull inspiration.
Then I see something, maybe a photograph of something pretty, an old typewriter holding a wealth of stories in its keys, a lovely book, a magazine full of stunning pictures and images begin to form.
Magazines, I’ve always loved them. If I had my way they would be piled up everywhere, all over my home but when you live in a small space that’s not always possible, so I rely on my trusty iPad. I can download as many magazines as I want and they go with me wherever I go. My latest magazine is Wallpaper, thanks to Denysia from That LA it Girl. I was thrilled to win the giveaway on her site and now I have access to amazing and inspirational design, architecture, fashion and style the world over.
“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” -Coco Chanel
I’ve mentioned before that this is one of my favourite quotes and I fall back on it often. It can be as simple as a leaf blowing gently in a spring breeze which can inspire a designer. There can be as much beauty in a raindrop as in a ray of sunshine. Ideas swirl through my head. Images become words and words become sentences.
Sometimes it’s a simple as putting on a great pair of shoes which are out of my comfort zone and going for a walk. The fresh air clears my head and opens my eyes to the beauty around me.
If you find yourself stuck for thoughts and uninspired, take a moment to look around you. Really let the environment sink in and soon you will find yourself open to a whole new world of ideas!

With all of the busyness that so often dictates our daily lives, it can definitely be difficult to remember to stop and look around! Thanks for the reminder 🙂

Bye!!
thank you for following my blog!
I feel the same way when I’m trying to think of something to write about. I’ve never thought I was very pretty or interesting so when I get stumped or feel crappy I will put on my heels and just walk around the house in them. I think it’s that feeling of being beautiful that really inspires me to write.
Yeap, this is a great Chanel quote and these are my thoughts of fashion too.
Best Regards

Isn’t it amazing that whenever it feels like we have nothing to say, if we just start… the words just tumble out…

I get stuck so much and it is usually an image, a song, or a walk that tend to break that wall. That quote is great!
